8L45 / 8L90 Reinforced Dampner Kit, Superior STL028.
Use Superior’s patent-pending STL028’s in all your 8L series units.
The new STL028 Plate~Gard™ encapsulated dampener design prevents further damage to the spacer plate.
No need to buy a new Plate, and no concern about possible “leakage” as dampeners are independently sealed in the VB castings with Superior’s propriety spec O-rings.
When the oversized dampeners wear out or break, the worn casting is unusable. Further reaming is not possible because increased piston area and spring tension required to offset the increased load pushes the dampener beyond the range of functionality, and it is no longer able to absorb the oscillation wave. At the OEM pressure specs, oscillation absorption is limited, so damage occurs.
The Cause:
The OE dampener piston design is structurally incapable of withstanding the pressures to which it is subjected.
Also separator plates get crushed by the OEM dampeners & springs under high pressures. This is why we also recommend using the New STL-8L90 VBU™ along with this STL028 Plate~Gard™ repair kit.
