This TransGo 6L80 SHIFT KIT® Valve Body Repair Kit fits 2006 and later General Motors and BMW vehicles equipped with the popular 6L45, 6L50, 6L80 and 6L90 automatic transmissions. These transmissions often come in with a delaminating Pressure Regulator (PR) valve which wears out the PR valve bore in the pump causing erratic line pressure. Another area of wear concern is the solenoid regulator valve bore. Wear in both areas can cause various shift complaints and codes, delayed engagements and broken hard parts due to high pressure spikes.

Features and benefits:

The kit utilizes all drop-in valves for quick, no-hassle install, without reaming or tooling. The precision ground USA-made hardened steel PR valve provides full-time line-to-lube and restores the hydraulic integrity of the circuit. It has re-positioned longer lands at both ends of the valves which promote better support less wear. As a result, this new valve is a drop-in fix even with a pump that has substantial bore wear. A new boost valve and bushing is also provided with a built in EPC pressure relief to eliminate the possibility of damaging high line pressure spikes. In addition, to address the solenoid regulator valve bore wear, a drop in system using a precision ground USA-made hardened steel valve and a valve guide insert is used. Consequently, it no longer uses the original worn bore and easily restores the hydraulic integrity of the solenoid regulator valve circuit.

Finally, the kit includes new rubber seals and diaphragms to renew the TEHCM pressure switches. The kit also includes TransGo engineered high temperature stator rings, to salvage problematic early style pump stator support without locking sealing rings.

6L80-LB1 - Line Pressure Booster Kit

Sonnax hydraulic line pressure booster kits contain stronger pressure regulator springs and large ratio boost valves designed to work together to provide progressive pressure increases as driving conditions become more demanding.

Our pressure regulator springs are approximately 10% stronger than OE and more conservative in impact than other aftermarket “kit” springs. Large ratio boost valves provide higher pressure incrementally and when it is needed the most. The combination of these springs and valves in a Sonnax kit gives you the best of both worlds: a modest pressure increase at the low end, with a high-end pressure that is equal to or greater than that of other aftermarket “kit” springs.

The Prescription for Optimum Pressure

Stronger pressure regulator springs raise pressure equal amounts at idle and maximum pressure. Many aftermarket “kit” springs are a compromise, raising pressure too much at idle and not enough at maximum pressures. Larger boost valves, on the other hand, have a progressive effect on pressure, changing the rate of pressure increase.

The Sonnax large ratio boost valves and stronger pressure regulator springs are designed to work together. This is an ideal combination: smooth engagements and lower load on the pump at idle, but a greater increase in pressure as the transmission is worked harder.

104534-HD - Pump Slide Spring

Sonnax high-performance pump slide spring 104534-HD for GM 6L80 and 6L90 transmissions helps maintain consistent pump volume during line rise and at high-RPM operation.

In high-performance applications at high engine speeds, increased pressure and centrifugal force on the pump vanes act to center the pump slide, reducing pump volume and limiting maximum pressure. In high-performance applications, it is critical to maintain maximum pump volume in order to hold line pressure and prevent clutch failure. The Sonnax spring is stiffer than OE and is able to hold the pump slide in a maximum-volume position, despite increased pressure and high engine speed in performance applications.

104520-14K - Pressure Regulator Valve Kit

GM 6L45, 6L50, 6L80 and 6L90 units may exhibit multiple line pressure and cooler/converter/lube

Additionally, updates were made to the OE separator plate to further improve clutch feed pressure, clutch backfill exhaust pressure and compensator feed pressure.

If the unit's separator plate is NOT the updated version, Sonnax recommends replacing the plate with the updated version when using this spring kit.

104740-14K - Center Support Seal Kit
The rubber seals between the center support in the case and the machined surface of the valve body are prone to leakage over time. In GM 6L45, 6L50, 6L80, 6L90 transmissions, this can result in continuous line pressure and lube flow loss, as well as clutch apply leakage in Reverse, 2nd and 6th. Installation of the Sonnax center support seal kit 104740-14K will prevent any leakage that occurs due to a gap between the rubber OE seals and the valve body or center support. Drop-in Zip Valve parts install quickly and easily.
