GM 6L80 and 6L90 transmissions have aluminum bushings installed at the front and rear of the stator shaft. While aluminum bushings generally have good wear characteristics, they are vulnerable during moments of low or no oil flow, such as during startup. The OE aluminum bushings in the stator shaft are prone to premature wear for this reason, resulting in scored bushings, bushing failure, TCC codes and TCC apply and release concerns.
