The C4 transmission was used in many Ford vehicles between 1964 and 1986. The case fill and pan fill transmission pans are the same except that the pan fill pan includes a brass fitting to allow filling directly into the side of the pan.
The C4 case fill transmission pan fits 1965-1981 Ford vehicles with the case fill C4 transmission such as Mustang, Bronco, Falcon, Pinto, and Maverick.
The pan fill model acomadates those C4 transmissions without a case fill option. The pan fill pan is most often found on F100 trucks and Broncos. The pan-fill pan has a drilled and tapped hole with a fitting that works with the dipstick tube.
The C4 transmission is a popular performance transmission for racing. These are usually modified or rebuilt vehicles. Racing is a demanding application and the extra capacity and fins on this transmission pan help cool the fluid for less wear and tear on the transmission.
A filter extension is not needed since the level of the fluid is in the same location as with the stock pan. The Filter bolts on to the valve body so no filter supports are needed.
This transmission pan features heat-sink baffles on the inside of the pan.
A temperature sensor hole can be machined below the fill hole on the boss on the inside of the pan.
